Gustavo De Los Rios currently serves as the Juárez Shelter Connector.
Through personal experience growing up on the border and crossing between both Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico and El Paso, TX, to visit family and friends, he is passionate about bringing awareness and collaborative solutions to the border issues faced every day by migrants.
He holds several years of experience in the realm of community development and immigration advocacy prior to his role at Abara. Gustavo previously held the role of student intern and part-time staff at Ciudad Nueva Community Outreach in the Rio Grande community of El Paso.
The experience he gained connecting neighbors with community resources combined with a passion for supporting migrants has inspired Gustavo to begin his work at Abara. Gustavo is a student at the University of Texas at El Paso and will graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2022.
He looks forward to gaining more experience in walking alongside our migrant brothers and sisters and helping others understand the realities of the border through a dignified lens.
